Body-less Panthers (sounded nicer than decapitated)

The last week has been fairly busy.  In addition to lots of completely unrelated to felting stuff, I’ve managed to make a Pink Panther head, two hummingbirds, and another really fun project (that I can’t talk about on here yet, because my mom’s birthday isn’t for another few weeks – commencing standard birthday torture now).  😉

Last week started with finishing up the head of the Pink Panther.  I had some friends who wanted a head on a clip for a wedding reception game.  That was my first experience making only a decapitated head.  It felt kind of weird.  🙂

IMG_3036It took me two tries to even get a basic head shape.  The first one came out kind of creepy looking.  For that matter, they tended to look creepy up until they were almost finished.

The original plan was to attach the head to a clothespin.  After I thought about that for a while though, it didn’t seem like the best plan to be mashing on his poor little head repeatedly to open and close the pin.  So, we came up with a better option, and tied him to the clothespin.  Now he can always dangle right side up, instead of ending up upside down or in other weird positions.

IMG_1073Sadly, he can’t play his own Henry Mancini soundtrack while he dangles, but he has fun anyway.
